Designed from the ground up by Samantha Gabriel — the founder of Artful Ellijay, a beloved design shop on the downtown Ellijay square — this true log cabin above Mountaintown Creek reflects years of quiet thought about what makes a space feel like home.

Her vision was specific and unhurried: a cabin rooted in the tradition of North Georgia mountain architecture, softened with cottage warmth and brought carefully forward. Not the dark, industrial aesthetic that defines so much of the region. Something older. Something that felt, from the moment you stepped inside, as though it had always been there.

Log ceilings and handworked floors set the structural tone. Natural stone grounds the kitchen and hearth. A custom wood stain — developed on-site across different lights and seasons — achieves a warmth that feels discovered rather than applied. Large windows frame the mountain and creek views, so the landscape becomes part of the interior rather than something observed from a distance.
